If you are arranging an exchange of services and a stranger will be entering your life in some capacity (as a housecleaner, plumber, etc), be careful and treat the person as you would any professional seeking a job and ask for references. Other good websites for bartering include U-Exchange, Trashbank, and CareToTrade. U-Exchange requires a membership, but it is free. You can narrow your search by geographical area and the site operates pretty much like Craigslist.
With Trashbank, you can barter or sell items and services. CareToTrade is a little more secure and provides a desired value to you have a better idea of what items would be best for each specific exchange. There is also an Escrow system for trades that aren’t completed face-to-face.
